Evangeline has developed a second infection, they are not sure what it is yet, but they think it's a skin infection. They added a third type of antibiotic to her treatment, gave her a second blood transfusion, and threw in a few more IVs... Her NEC remains the same, it has not progressed at this point, so that is good. However, we are not on the upswing yet, but very much in the midst of fighting. If we can make it through Tuesday without things worsening, then we can exhale and know she is recovering.

Her sis is far away in a progressive unit, showing off, and we pray that she doesn't catch any of this. Evangeline was always at increased risk because the whole pregnancy she had blood flow/distribution issues...How much more can her poor 2lb body take?

Thank you so much for you prayers and support! It gives us hope and strength.

  2. I don't know your family but found your blog when researching info for a friend who is newly diagnosed with TTTS and also had laser ablation surgery in Houston. I'm also a pediatric nurse. I have been following your story and praying for your family all the way from Washington DC. Standing with you and trusting in God's plan for your family. Put your hope in HIM.

  3. Hey Laura & Ryan,

We are praying for you and your sweet baby girls. Y'all have been on one heck of a ride and I know are exhausted. We are glad these babies are here and in great hands. Praying for Evangeline's infection to clear up and for her to be able to grow. I know twin girls born at 32 weeks and they are energetic 1st graders now. Hard to imagine! Praying for peace and comfort.

  14. Praying for you guys...what a long, hard road. Know God is faithful but also know it's hard to find strength to get through each day. The NICU is a really scary place. Praying that the transfusion and meds for Evangeline are working. Know today is a critical day in the process. Much love....Emily Bates
