Big Day

Deep breaths. Barely slept last night. This is happening. I find myself continually trying to ground myself in reality, "ok, we are Houston, in the medical center because I am a patient and I have a disease and 2 sick babies and I am getting surgery." so surreal.

We got in late last night. Ended up not being able to get out of town until after 5pm- as the night progressed, we drove further and further into the darkness and uncertainty. I have experienced all kinds of fear in my life, but never quite like this.

I begin a day of testing and evaluations today at 830am. If they decide that I need emergency surgery, they will do it today- if not I will have to wait until Thursday (they only do this surgery tuesdays and thursdays).

I am thankful to finally be here in good hands and get this show on the road. Ryan's mom is coming in today too, I'll be happy to see a familiar face (my mom got surgery recently too which is why she will not be able to come).

Alright, here goes nothin- its in Gods hands.

Thank you for checking on us!

  1. Hello, my name is Jill and I am a friend of Janet Miedema. I wanted to let you know that God IS the God of miracles and who far surpasses our greatest hopes and dreams. I have 2 year old triplets and 2 of them are identical and they had developed ttts also. We found out at 15.5 weeks and needed surgery by 17.5 weeks. We were told that the surgery is usually performed a little later, but since one of our boys was in heart failure and the other in kidney failure, the surgery had to be performed immediately. I empathize so greatly with the fear and sadness you may be experiencing, as you just want to comfort your little girls. I encourage you to remember that as God is comforting you and your husband right now, he is also comforting your little girls. In this situation, we are called to put into action the trust that we say we have in Jesus. It is hard and very scary, but Jesus will be your rock throughout this process whatever the outcome. I will pray for your little girls and that the Lord will be merciful to you and to them and that he will strengthen their little bodies and that he will strengthen your faith every minute. I pray for wisdom for the surgeon and that God would divinely intervene through the surgery and heal these little girls. I will commit to praying for you and your family every day. In Christ, Jill
